Issue Overview
Rural schools are critical for rural communities and the families that live there, to thrive. Education and training is essential for rural economies to have properly trained workers, while rural schools are necessary to attract and retain those workers and their families. Questions and topics on rural education that have been brought forth in the Thought Exchanges held in the fall of 2023 have been:
- How do schools present in communities encourage new workers to a community? How do they support a rural workforce in general?
- What is the best way to encourage ongoing learning in rural communities?
- How do we leverage innovation for continued adult education?
- How do we keep our rural schools alive? How have rural schools been reimagined across Canada?
