We all want to keep our animals healthy. They are our work and our life. Biosecurity is a word that can come with a variety of interpretations, both good and bad. Simply put, on-farm biosecurity is about minimizing the risk of disease on our farms and to our livestock. It's an important part of the animal's welfare, our own health and the publics.
Our biosecurity courses (developed in partnership with the Government of Alberta's Growing Forward 2 program) are now available for those that want to learn about keeping their livestock healthy. These courses have been designed to come to your inbox several times a week for four weeks (11 emails total). We have gathered great resources from around the world from reputable sources so that you will be able to watch, read and implement new concepts with each new email. There is no test, no time limit and you can use the information however you see fit. Until July 31, 2017, you can participate in the course for free using the code GHLivestockHealth at checkout. After that the course will cost $9. All costs go towards keeping the course current and improving the experience of the course. Once you checkout download the pdf and follow the instructions to be registered for the course. Currently we have tailored our courses to the above sectors, however where there is interest in developing courses for other sectors, please contact us and we can discuss developing a course for your sector. These courses are a great training tool for yourself or other members of your farm. We also hope for any feedback on new resources, missing information or how we can make the course better. Please contact us at any time during the course to offer your input. Once you've registered for the course any resources that we receive in the future will be sent to you periodically. Overall it is a great way to stay connected to the information you need without a lot of headaches.
